Yes you can, car tire valves can start to leak air slowly as time goes by especially if it does not have a valve cap on. Dirt will start to accumulate in the valve stem and air could start to leak from the seal if the cap is missing.
You can test for a leak by simply using dishwashing liquid mixed with water or even your own saliva and rub it on the tire valve to see if it is blowing bubbles. Changing a faulty valve is fairly easy to do and cheap when you do it yourself. All you need is a cheap valve core tool and a new replacement valve core.
