Can car tires be bulletproof?

Bulletproof tires a myth or is it real?

Are bulletproof tires real?

Are there tires that can be shot or punctured multiple times and still function the way they should? Bulletproof tires might be a bit of a strong word in the real sense of the word, but bullet resistant tires is a more accurate description. Armored vehicles come with a sort of run flat tire. When these tires are punctured they can still drive on for many miles but at a reduced speed. These are special run flats which have extra support and extra thick sidewalls for faster speeds. The down side is everything that is armored weighs significantly more. Some armored vehicles use self sealing tires which are made of special materials that will seal the hole and allow you to drive on and escape danger. Then some armored vehicles have tires that containĀ  a solid metal ring inside. These solid bands can be plastic or metal and have smooth edges not to cut the rubber. They will support the weight of the vehicle when punctured, but at reduced speeds and it will give you enough time to get away from danger. Although they are not tires without air and the tire must be replaced when punctured. Technological breakthroughs are made constantly, one of these breakthroughs came through Michelin’s airless tire technology called Unique Puncture-proof Tire system (UPTIS). These tires are without air and provide a comfortable and safe ride for passenger cars. Michelin used high-tech materials to produce a tire that can not deflate and still deliver good performance. if you are talking about bulletproof tires, then these UPTIS tires from Michelin without any air and thus unable to deflate is the closest thing to it. Then you might ask, are bulletproof tires illegal? Firstly tires aren’t made or designed to be bulletproof in the true sense of the word or even specifically to resist bullets. They are designed so you can still keep on driving even when punctured. Puncture proof tires are the safest way to go and will always be legal.
